CGX Buys Prosper Ink-Jet Press for Color Digital Work
HOUSTON—Consolidated Graphics (CGX), headquartered here, and Kodak announced that CGX will install a Kodak Prosper 5000XL press. Powered by Kodak Stream ink-jet technology, the new color ink-jet press will reportedly provide CGX offset class quality, productivity and cost across a wide range of coated and uncoated stocks. Prosper press installations are slated to begin in the first quarter.
CALIFORNIA
SANTA CLARA—PrintPapa has been certified as a G7 Master Printer from the IDEAlliance, making it one of only five printers in the Bay Area, and about 220 nationwide, to achieve this goal.
GEORGIA
GAINESVILLE—Premier Georgia Printing and Labels, a sheetfed offset commercial and webfed label printer, has installed a fully automated Heidelberg Suprasetter 74 MCL thermal platesetter. The printer operates a range of Heidelberg equipment, including its most recent addition: a four-color Speedmaster 74 with aqueous coater.
INDIANA
MUNCIE—Print and marketing communications provider CS Kern recently achieved G7 Master Printer certification by applying La Crosse Litho Supply's ColorLink color assurance program.
MARYLAND
PRINCE FREDERICK—DirectMail.com, a provider of integrated direct marketing solutions, was selected by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington (DMAW) as the 2009 Vendor of the Year. The DMAW recognized the firm's nearly 40-year history and the leadership shown by partners Kirk Swain and Robert Salta.
MINNESOTA
CHASKA—Maximum Graphics, a Consolidated Graphics network company, has achieved G7 Master Printer status with the help of La Crosse Litho.
NEW JERSEY
BELLMAWR—"Construction Equipment Guide" has selected Evergreen Printing to print four regional newspapers, specialty publications and a quarterly magazine with nationwide coverage on construction equipment and industry news.
NORTH CAROLINA
ASHEVILLE—Genova Diagnostics recently installed a Ricoh Pro C900 digital imaging system, which replaced two color copiers. Genova issues several thousand reports for clinicians, often 30 to 40 pages in length, on a monthly basis.
BOONE—The Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology program at Appalachian State University is now using a two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 press, which has become the centerpiece of its graphic arts curriculum.
PENNSYLVANIA
PHILADELPHIA—Phoenix Lithographing has purchased a Goss/Heidelberg Sunday 2000 web press. The eight-color press includes a pinless combination folder and double former folder with pre-folder capabilities, remoistenable gluer, aqueous and UV coater, pattern perforator and a 44-foot oven. The press is expected to be fully operational during the first quarter.
TEXAS
DALLAS—An increased workload has led Lincoln Press to add a six-color, 28˝ Mitsubishi Diamond 1000LS equipped with a coater.
HOUSTON—The Printing and Postal Service Department at the University of Houston is providing faster turnaround after installing a four-color, 20x29˝ KBA Performa 74 press with aqueous coater and dryer.
SAN ANGELO—The in-plant print shop at Angelo State University is now running a four-color Heidelberg Printmaster GTO 52.
