Shop's New 29˝ Sheetfed Press Replaces Two Small-Format Models
MERCERSBURG, PA—A new five-color, 29˝ Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75 with Prinect Inpress Control, an integrated Wallscreen application and the "Peak Performance" package, has been installed at Mercersburg Printing. According to General Manager Doug Shenberger, the new press replaced two smaller-format presses, allowing the company to handle a greater variety of large jobs.
The single-shift operation expects to see a substantial increase in overall throughput, due to the 18,000 sheets/hr. running speed of the XL 75, coupled with Inpress Control's ability to measure and correct color on-the-fly. The new press joins the company's remaining small-format Speedmaster SM 52 with Axis Control.
Grand-Format Inkjet Printer Opens Up New Markets, Including Printed Vehicle Magnets
COLUMBUS, OH—Since adding a Screen Truepress Jet2500UV inkjet printer, Franklin Imaging is now able to produce high-impact printing applications. "We wanted to upgrade our printing capabilities to reduce our turnaround times and improve quality," says Emily Williamson, president.
The 98.4˝-wide system is said to be unique among grand-format inkjet printing systems in its ability to print up to seven image layers without feeding the media through the machine a second time. "Multilayer printing is one of several great features with the Truepress Jet2500UV," she adds, also noting its ability to handle heavy magnet rolls to print vehicle magnets.
