The Garvey Group Adds Eighth KBA Press
NILES, IL—In response to continuing demand for labels and top sheets, The Garvey Group acquired a six-color, 64˝ KBA 162a sheetfed press with UV curing. According to Ed Garvey, owner and president, the new press "will give us the flexibility to have even greater speed to market and unprecedented redundancy and allow us to expand the capacity of our large-format production."
A high priority for the firm was to increase its UV capacity for its customers. To that extent, Garvey chose to have the Rapida 162a press equipped with five UV lamps that are movable to any of nine exchange positions, which provides maximum flexibility.
"In the past eight years, our company has invested in eight KBA presses," stated Garvey. "We have come to rely on their innovation and support."
Foremost Gets First Truepress JetSX Inkjet Press
GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Foremost Communications has installed the first Screen Truepress JetSX sheetfed inkjet press in North America. The company spent two years identifying a system that could satisfy its specific needs: being able to handle up to 24-pt. board, accommodate 100 percent variable data documents and print both sides of the substrate without having to manually flip the load.
The Truepress JetSX is taking over short-run color work previously printed on the company's half-size Komori press. In addition, Foremost Communications has migrated a portion of its toner volume to the Truepress JetSX to capitalize on the larger (20.8x29.1˝) sheet size.
"The Truepress JetSX allows us more capabilities to print longer runs of variable data booklets, postcards, brochures and mailers," said Brian VanderHooning, COO. "It produces better yields and higher profit margins."
