New Platesetter Improves Quality and Throughput
POMPANO BEACH, FL—Lithoprint Corp. recently installed an automatic, top-loading Heidelberg Suprasetter A75 thermal computer-to-plate device. The upgrade also allowed Lithoprint to take advantage of the environmental and quality improvements obtained through the use of Heidelberg Saphira Chemfree aluminum plates, 100 percent of which it recycles.
“We’re definitely getting a cleaner, sharper dot since we installed the new platesetter,” says company owner Brian Boyd. “This is evident in the much-improved quality of the reprints we do. In addition, our production times are significantly faster because of the automation.”
Envelope Provider Installs 30th Halm Jet Press for Its Printing Department
OLD FORGE, PA—Northeastern Envelope has acquired the first XT2315C Halm Jet Press Touch and Go, which incorporates a new ergonomic design, easy ink fountains and a new touchscreen operation. With this installation, Northeastern Envelope also hit a milestone of operating 30 Halm Jet presses within its printing department.
“We’re proud of our long partnership with Halm Industries. Halm has helped Northeastern Envelope grow from a two-man operation into a full-scale envelope company employing more than 100 personnel, operating in a 150,000-square-foot plant, and printing and manufacturing over 500 million envelopes a year,” says James Ferrario, CEO.

HAWTHORNE—Lithographix has acquired a 98˝ Durst Rho 1000 continuous-feed, wide-format inkjet printer and a five-meter Rho 500R super-wide, roll-to-roll inkjet system.
OXNARD—A new digital print center has been opened here by Ann Arbor, MI-based Edwards Brothers to print softcover books and journals. This marks the 10th digital print center owned or operated by Edwards Brothers.
SAN LUIS OBISPO—PRP Cos. (formerly known as Poor Richard's Press) has installed a Heidelberg Suprasetter A52 computer-to-plate device. It is being used to image Saphira Chemfree plates.

PUEBO—The Pueblo Chieftain has upgraded its 1996 manroland Uniset web press with modern controls and the latest PECOM control console technology from manroland. The upgrade will help the paper maintain its position as a newspaper publishing and commercial printing operation.

WEST HAVEN—GHP Media has ordered a new 10-color Akiyama Jprint perfecting press from Goss International. It will be installed by Goss later this year.

ATLANTA—Canterbury Press has purchased an HP Indigo 5500 digital press. Its white ink printing option will also allow the printer to pursue a broader range of high-end designs, including four-color printing on colored, metallized and transparent media.
DALTON—A new Fujifilm Inca Onset S40 inkjet printer is now operating in Brown Industries' wide-format, point-of-purchase department. The purchase complements Brown's three offset presses, three digital presses and nine screen presses.
STONE MOUNTAIN—A fully integrated Heidelberg Prinect Prepress Manager workflow upgrade, anchored by a new thermal Suprasetter 105 CTP device, has drastically reduced turnaround times at Wallace Graphics.

ALSIP—Accord Carton will become the second package printer in the world to install a next-generation (15,000 sph), 56˝, seven-color Roland 900 series press with coater. The installation is scheduled for completion next February.
HARWOOD HEIGHTS—FCL Graphics has completed new five-year senior revolving and term debt facilities. The lower interest cost of the new facility will free up significant cash flow, increasing the capacity for investments to drive growth, both organically and through acquisition.
NILES—Specialty Print Communications (SPC) has been qualified as a G7 Master Printer from the IDEAlliance.

INDIANAPOLIS—Fineline Printing Group has acquired a Kodak NexPress SX3300 digital production color press equipped with the longer (26˝) sheet size option. Fineline is one of the first U.S. printers to install the long-sheet option, which delivers 27 percent more printable area.

TAYLOR—Printwell Printing reports that it's one of the first printers worldwide to install a Kodak NexPress SX model digital press. This introduces Kodak's new HD inks, as well as the larger, 26˝ sheet-size capability, to the Detroit metro area.

MINNEAPOLIS—Imagine! Print Solutions has been re-qualified as a G7 Master Printer by IDEAlliance. This is the company's fourth consecutive year as a G7 Master Printer.

NORTH KANSAS CITY—Since installing a 40˝, eight-color Mitsubishi Diamond 3000R convertible perfector with dual coaters and a four-color Diamond 3000R convertible perfector with aqueous coater, Watkins Lithographic has reported cleaner images, shorter makereadies and faster printing speeds. They replace two existing 40˝ presses and a 26˝ model.

ASHEVILLE—Plasticard-Locktech International (PLI), the world's largest manufacturer of hotel keycards and a specialty printer, has earned FSC chain-of-custody certification from the Rainforest Alliance's SmartWood program. PLI is now one of only three major plastics printers to offer paper products that carry the FSC seal.
MOOREVILLE—Celebrating its fifth year in business, Victory Press has added a 42˝ HP Designjet 5500 UV printer to produce short-run posters and proofs; a Konica Minolta bizhub C452 for digital runs; and a MBO B21 folder with right angle attachment.

CANONSBURG—After success with its first six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 press, Heeter Direct is now operating a second six-color Speedmaster XL 105. RAPID CITY—A new Kodak Prosper 5000XL inkjet web press has been acquired by Fenske Media. In the future, Fenske also plans to add Kodak's Prosper Image Optimization Station for optimal image quality.

ARLINGTON—Diversified Labeling Solutions (Itasca, IL), a trade manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels, has opened a production facility here.
WASHINGTON
KENT—Superior Imaging Group has installed two new Fujifilm Acuity Advance HS inkjet flatbed printers. PI
