Printer Opts for Second Speedmaster Press as Part of Anniversary Celebration
HAYWARD, CA—FolgerGraphics marked its 53rd year in business by adding a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 press. Dick Folger, president of FolgerGraphics, opted for the press based on the success with his existing five-color Speedmaster CD 74 press acquired in 2003.
The company also recently installed a Heidelberg Suprasetter thermal platesetter and achieved G7 Master Printer qualification with Heidelberg. Harald Weimer, president of Heidelberg USA, and Clarence Penge, vice president of sheetfed product management, visited the facility just before the new press was installed.
In addition, FolgerGraphics has received a Business Recognition Award from the City of Hayward, and was certified as a Green Business as part of the Bay Area's Green Business program.
Third Large-Format Sheetfed Press Will Boost Point-of-Purchase Display Output
GRAFTON, WI—A new six-color, 57˝ KBA Rapida 145 press will be delivered and installed alongside Philipp Lithographing's existing 81˝ KBA Rapida 205 and 64˝ Rapida 162A sheetfed presses this month.
A major factor in the purchasing decision-making process, according to Philipp Litho President and CEO Peter Buening, is the Rapida 145's fast makeready, minimal makeready sheets, fast running speeds (up to 17,000 sph in straight printing) and the KBA QualiTronic color control feature.
Philipp Litho has built a solid customer base in the large-format market providing printed sheets for the point-of-purchase (POP) display industry and top sheets and litho labels for the corrugated industry. Buening says the point-of-purchase market is growing and is relatively unaffected by offshore manufacturing. He finds that many corrugated companies have moved into the POP display market because it lends itself to their food and consumer product clients.
