Midstates Inc., Aberdeen, South Dakota, Lays Off 55 Employees Due to Order Projections
ABERDEEN, S.D.—July 14, 2015—In response to a decrease in customer demand, Midstates Inc., a commercial printing firm based here that specializes in custom print, marketing, e-publishing and postal processes, laid off 55 employees last week, reported KELOLAND TV.
Accounting for 20 percent of the company's workforce, Midstates Group president Dave Burgard said the cuts were made due to order projections from one of the company's larger customers.
Despite the layoffs, Burgard expressed a positive outlook for the firm's recovery in the next three to six months, and noted that the company may even start hiring again later this year. According to KELOLAND TV, Burgard's biggest regret is the impact the layoffs will have on their former employees.
The layoffs will not impact Midstates' affiliate companies in other parts of South Dakota, KELOLAND TV reported
