Hunkeler Gears Up for Innovationdays
LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND—Standard Finishing Systems partner Hunkeler will host Innovationdays 2011 from Feb. 14-17 at the Lucerne trade fair complex. More than 5,000 international professionals from the areas of print-on-demand, data centers, mailrooms and web finishing will gather to see live demonstrations of the latest digital printing and paper processing solutions from Canon, HP, InfoPrint Solutions, Kodak, Océ, Xerox and others.
Hunkeler will highlight the Gen6 rotary cutter with variable chip-out; the new Standard Hunkeler PF-7 plow fold module; along with the full range of new Gen6 unwinders, cutters, stackers and rewinders. A Standard Horizon StitchLiner 6000 Digital saddlestitching system will be shown with cover insertion, and a Standard Horizon AFC-566F Digital production folder will be demonstrated in-line with a Standard Hunkeler CS6 rotary cutter. As part of a comprehensive campaign to focus on its core customers and highlight its bookbinding, laminating shrink wrapping and imaging products, Southwest Plastic Binding has changed its name to Southwest Binding and Laminating.
At Integrated Color Solutions (ICS), Dan Caldwell has been promoted to president. He first joined ICS in 2001, and was later appointed vice president of operations in 2003.
WCJ Pilgrim Wire, a manufacturer and distributor of wire used in the box stitching and printing industries, has purchased Stanley Bostitch's wire business.
Graphic Arts Capital (GAC) has acquired Champion Capital. It will allow GAC to move from primarily servicing direct vendors that are involved in front end and digital technologies, to also working with a nationwide network of dealers and companies that market press and finishing equipment.
Toyo Ink International has realigned its U.S. printing inks' operations. Under the new organization, wholly owned subsidiary Toyo Ink America, based in Addison, IL, will absorb the packaging ink and polymers businesses of its sister subsidiary, Toyo Ink Technologies, and merge them with its existing commercial printing inks operation.
At Enfocus Inc., Jared Himes has been hired as a product specialist based at the company's Miamisburg, OH, location.
NewPage Corp. and its marketing firm, Trekk Cross Media, won two awards for its "Paper Sells More Product" multimedia marketing campaign. The program, selected from nearly 5,000 entries from around the world, won a Gold Marcom award from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. It was also a winner of BtoB's annual Best Creative Awards.
Count On Tools, a provider of pick-and-place nozzles and associated components, will celebrate its 20th year in business in 2011.
Streamline Solutions has added two-way integration with LithoTechnics' Metrix automated job planning and imposition system to its PrintStream product. Two-way Metrix integration enables PrintStream users to enter print specs in just one place and pass the information back and forward between PrintStream and Metrix.
Juanita James, Pitney Bowes' vice president and chief marketing and communications officer, has retired from the company. James, who joined the company in 1999, is responsible for leading the effort that ultimately helped move Pitney Bowes into the marketing services business through several acquisitions.
A joint decision has been made between Agfa Corp. and xpedx, wherein effective Feb. 28, xpedx will end its distribution of Agfa-branded graphics products in the United States. Agfa purchased the Pitman Co., a national distributor, last August.
Jorson & Carlson has been designated by Technifold Ltd. (Lutterworth, UK) to be the exclusive U.S. distributor for its line of CreaseStream machines.
Xerox Corp. announced plans to invest $25 million to expand its emulsion aggregation (EA) toner plant in Webster, NY, which will increase its manufacturing capacity of EA toner at the facility by 50 percent.
