Smith's Is Closing Shop

CAMBRIDGE, MD—Smith's Printing, a staple of this community for more than half a century, is closing its doors with the retirement of owner Clifford Collison, according to the Dorchester Banner. Collison has worked at Smith's for 54 years.

Printer Adopts Solar Power

ROCKAWAY, NJ—North Jersey Media Group has activated its solar power facility, which is expected to provide more than 60 percent of the newspaper printer's energy needs. In addition to printing The Record, North Jersey Media Group prints USA Today, The Journal News, Poughkeepsie Journal, New Jersey Herald, Investor's Business Daily and all the publications of Greater Media Newspapers. The installation includes 20,400 panels on the roof and grounds surrounding the company's 350,000-square-foot facility.
