Mercury Print Productions Gets New Facility, Name
ROCHESTER, NY—No, Mercury Print Productions isn't entering the witness protection program. It is, however, changing its name and relocating its business to another area of its Rochester, NY, home city.
The company, which specializes in textbooks and educational materials, is being rechristened Mercury, An Innovation Solutions Co., according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. The identity switch is accompanied by a consolidation of operations as it will funnel two plants into one 170,000-square-foot facility in Rochester Tech Park.
"I've always wanted to get into one facility for efficiency," Mercury CEO John Place told the newspaper.
The move begins next week and is expected to take up to three months to complete. The company has also added two presses: a Kodak Prosper 5000XL inkjet digital machine, which is already installed at the new digs, as well as a Heidelberg sheetfed press.
The company also spent about $600,000 on mailing equipment and hired a mailing manager as it aims to do less outsourcing, Place told the newspaper. In addition to the 10 new jobs that have been created, Place expects to add 10 or more other new employees as the company settles into its new location.
With the added capacity and capabilities, Place sees Mercury increasing its sales from the current $30 million per year mark to the $50 million plateau within a few years.
