Courier Corp. Installs HP T300 Inkjet Web Press for Book Production
PALO ALTO, CA—March 9, 2010—HP today announced that Courier Corp., North America's third-largest book manufacturer, has installed an HP T300 Color Inkjet Web Press to expand its service offerings to include digital printing.
Industry leaders like Courier are using the HP T300 to create a new category in high-productivity printing as they shift digital technology from its historical niche application focus into mainstream manufacturing environments. With the press installation at Courier's North Chelmsford, MA, headquarters facility, and another installation at French firm CPI, the HP T300 now produces books for two of the world's largest book manufacturers.
"We decided to partner with HP because of its advanced technology, exceptional personnel and significant experience in digital printing. Working with HP to adapt its technology to work effectively in our market has been rewarding," said James F. Conway III, Chairman, President and CEO of Courier Corp. "We look forward to a long and productive relationship with HP as we continue to invest in technology to maintain our competitive edge and provide our customers the highest level of service."
"Last year, Courier committed to become one of our first inkjet web press customers and, since that time, its executives have taught HP a great deal about the level of service, capabilities and quality needed to be an innovative publishing leader,” said Aurelio Maruggi, vice president and general manager, Inkjet High-speed Production Solutions, HP. “HP is proud to help an esteemed printing firm like Courier use the HP T300's industry-leading productivity to capture promising new opportunities."
With the HP T300, print service providers like Courier can drive profitable growth by offering addressable 1,200x600 dots per inch imaging in a speed and size combination that produces 2,600 letter-size pages per minute. The press also delivers image quality and durability on any low-cost, uncoated paper, as well as on a range of coated media. Designed to deliver high productivity at a breakthrough cost, the press enables users to purchase consumables as needed without click charges.
More titles, more customization, less waste
Publishing systems based on the high-volume HP T300 platform eliminate significant waste. The press and its partner finishing solutions provide an efficient, cost-effective and environmentally responsible digital approach to book manufacturing.
The HP T300 is available with a range of finishing equipment from HP partners to establish streamlined, comprehensive workflows for printing books, direct mail, transactional statements¹ and newspapers. HP SmartStream print server solutions enable front-end processing on the press at full-press speeds, while optional HP Exstream software allows companies to create, manage and deliver all types of fully customized documents for the press in data-intensive transactional and transpromotional printing applications.
On March 9, HP's Aurelio Maruggi will discuss publishing trends in digital print at the INTERQUEST Digital Book Printing Forum in New York, part of the Publishing Business Conference and Expo.
