Cyril-Scott Co. Will Add Goss Heatset Web Press
LANCASTER, OH—Aug. 24, 2010—The Cyril-Scott Co., a Consolidated Graphics company (NYSE: CGX), will install a new six-unit Goss M-500 press later this year at its Lancaster facility.
One of the first printers in the United States to specialize in web offset production with inline finishing, The Cyril-Scott Co. will add the Goss and IWEB finishing system to a lineup of 13 heatset web presses already in use at its facility. "We have always invested in technology that gives our customers the most unique and effective production options," according to Matt Coltharp, president of The Cyril-Scott Company. "The new Goss press reflects this commitment."
Goss International will equip the M-500 press with Omnicon controls and an Ecocool dryer with integrated chill rolls. The system will feature a 38-inch web width and include closed-loop color and register controls, a sheeter and additional specialized IWEB in-line finishing capabilities. The Goss press will also improve specialized UV applications.
According to Coltharp, the proven print quality and low-waste efficiency of the Goss M-500 model were key factors in the press selection, along with the ability to integrate state-of-the-art automation and in-line finishing components. "Goss International is the longstanding web offset technology leader," Coltharp stated. "The fact that the press will be manufactured at their facility in the U.S., where they have a very substantial engineering and support infrastructure, gives us added confidence in the potential of this equipment."
