David S. Fry Joins Fry Communications as Chief Technology Officer
MECHANICSBURG, PA—12/2/2009—David S. Fry will fill a new position — Chief Technology Officer — at Fry Communications, Inc. (www.frycomm.com) announced CEO Henry Fry.
David Fry’s responsibilities will include the development of technology offerings for customers, as well as the selection and implementation of the core technology to drive those offerings. Although he will not have responsibility for the operation and delivery of those offerings, he will work with those Fry departments that do in choosing the proper tools and technologies. He will also be available to meet with customers who are interested in our technology direction, seek our guidance, or have interest in our offerings.
“The appointment of David underscores the fact that our role has changed from printer to information distribution agent and befits our motto: Unique solutions for information distribution in print, via direct mail, on the World Wide Web, and beyond,” says Henry Fry.
In 1994, David Fry established a Fry Communications division providing Internet services in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As the Web exploded in the late 90s, the division grew rapidly, and David eventually spun off the group into a separate company named Fry, Inc. Today Fry, Inc. is one of the nation’s leading e-commerce service providers. It processes billions of dollars of transactions per year for companies like Ann Taylor, Crate & Barrel, and Whirlpool. In 2008, David sold the business to MICROS Systems, Inc. but continues to serve as a consultant. He has a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University and is the son of CEO Henry Fry.
Celebrating 75 years, Fry Communications, Inc. (www.frycomm.com) has continually expanded and diversified to meet the needs of its customers from its campus in Mechanicsburg, PA.
