NAPA, CA—Tapp Technologies, a wine label producer, has expanded into digital printing by installing a pair of seven-color HP Indigo ws4000 narrow-web digital color presses.
HOLLAND, MI—The Printery, a division of SVH Group, revealed that Haworth Inc. is using its Online Printstore to manage their print purchasing, distribution and inventory activities. Haworth is a manufacturer and distributor of commercial office furniture. It intends to make branded sales and marketing materials directly available to its sales and administrative staffs via the online store.
BIRMINGHAM, UK—Virtual Literature Management (VLM), an all-digital print shop, reportedly has achieved a milestone with a NexPress 2100 digital production color press. It claims to have reached the one million impressions per month production rate. The company has a Web-based print ordering system that is said to enable efficient throughput of 1,000 to 1,500 orders per day with average run lengths of 60 impressions, but some jobs going as high as 20,000 impressions.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Two organizations, the Sales & Marketing Executives (S&ME) and the Digital Printing Council (DPC) of the Printing Industries of America, have teamed up to produce a marketing white paper. Entitled, "Differentiating Your Company: In Today's Commoditized Market," the piece is being authored by Joel Crockett. The report initially is only available to members of S&ME and DPC.
MIAMI—Colonial Press International is known for being one of the largest minority-owned commercial printers in the United States. It marked its 50th year in business by making several major acquisitions, including an eight-page PlateRite 8600 thermal platesetter from Screen (USA).
PORVOO, FINLAND—WS Bookwell Ltd. reportedly has ordered the world's largest CTP system from basysPrint. The UV-Setter XL is capable of exposing conventional offset printing plates in formats up to 59.6x124˝.
