Digital Ink Installs HP Indigo Press 3500 at New Plant
PALO ALTO, CA—November 29, 2007—HP today announced that Digital Ink, a long-time New York City-based short-run printing specialist, upgraded its capabilities by installing one of the first HP Indigo press 3500s sold in the U.S. as it moved into a new 14,000 sq.ft. location. With the new press, Digital Ink gains true offset-quality digital printing and benefits from HP’s Print 2.0 emphasis on advanced digital print solutions that increase speed and lower costs in commercial printing.
The new press enables streamlined production through numerous engineering enhancements, including adjustment-free paper handling and the efficient press production manager front-end utility. The press offers increased reliability at an entry-level price, as well as the true look and feel of offset printing with the use of liquid HP ElectroInks instead of dry toner. As part of its initiative to provide customers business development tools, training and programs, HP provided a business consultant through the HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success initiative to help Digital Ink develop seminars and showcase the benefits of personalization possible with HP Indigo presses.
“When we introduced the HP Indigo press 3500 , we did so to make it easier for our customers to harness the power of digital printing” said Rich Raimondi, vice president and general manager, U.S. Graphic Arts Organization, HP. “Customers like Digital Ink are able to achieve their digital difference as a unique provider of high-quality, high-value digital print services.”
Digital Ink, which was a beta customer on the new model, purchased the HP Indigo press 3500 as it was planning its move across the East River from Manhattan to Queens. The new location allows Digital Ink to maintain accessibility to its Manhattan client base, while establishing its base in a manufacturing area offering a greater number of trade work opportunities. With HP Indigo, DI-offset and traditional offset devices all in one location, Digital Ink now has the flexibility to offer high-quality printing at any run length.
“The quality is amazing on the new HP Indigo press 3500,” said Jamie Wollens, CEO, Digital Ink. “I have clients in the television, publishing and fashion industries who, in the past, would strictly demand that their work be printed offset. Digital quality is not an issue for them now. The ink on the HP Indigo does not sit on top of the page like toner does, and the new 3500 model press produces sharper, tighter line screens.”
The HP Indigo press 3500 offers outstanding production color value and productivity, enabling volume-based profit opportunities. Key features and benefits include:
* adjustment-free paper handling
* simplified operation with the HP Indigo Press Production Manager digital front end
* state-of-the-art color management with 4- and 6-color Pantone emulations and ICC profiling
HP Indigo adaptive halftone technology for enhanced line work printing.
