SANTA ANA, CA—August 13, 2012—Duplo USA, a leading manufacturer of print finishing equipment, announces the following equipment installations at shops with Xerox presses. With the addition of Duplo finishing solutions, these customers have improved overall productivity and efficiency.
Capitol Citicom Print & Graphics, in Columbus, OH, has vastly improved its efficiency and productivity with a Duplo DC-745 slitter/cutter/creaser. Previously using a guillotine cutter for trimming jobs, the shop immediately removed the bottleneck in this operation. The high production DC-745 removes white borders and prevents toner cracking at great speeds, and offers increased versatility to finish a wider range of digital color applications in a single pass.
“Finishing business cards has gone from 20 minutes to 3 minutes per 1,000 cards,” says Michael Oakes, production manager at Capitol Citicom. “We plan to add the folder attachment (Integrated Folding System) when it becomes available, which will reduce the entire finishing process to a single step. Cross training is also a major focus for us and the automation of the DC-745 has enabled every member of our team to quickly learn and operate the machine.”
Jobs are printed on two Xerox iGen3 digital presses and three DocuTechs. The slitter/cutter/creaser was sold and installed by Duplo dealer, MB Graphics.
Capitol Citicom Print & Graphics is a family-owned commercial printer offering a number of services including high speed on-demand digital printing, wide format sign production, finishing, mailing and creative design services.
Westat, based in Rockville, MD, is now producing booklets, brochures, and catalogs on a Duplo System 5000 collating and bookletmaking system. The high-production system offers easy changeovers and delivers saddle-, side- or corner-stitched jobs at up to 5,000 booklets per hour. Jobs are printed on four Xerox presses, including a Color 1000, DocuTech 6180, DocuTech 6155 and 700 digital color press, and are then combined in the bookletmaking system.
“We take the output from all four presses and keep them running at full speed while the System 5000 does the stitching, folding, and trimming,” reports Ezra Schneider, manager at Westat. “The System 5000 makes it easy to take a color cover from the Xerox 700 and combine it with black-and-white booklets produced on the other presses.”
The machine was sold and installed by Coleman One.
Westat is an employee-owned research corporation consulting in statistical design, data collection and management, and research analysis work. It is recognized as one of the foremost research and statistical survey organizations in the country.
Tom Henry Cards, soon to open in Kissimmee, FL, has installed a Duplo DC-615 slitter/cutter/creaser. Ideal for finishing short-run jobs on demand, the DC-615 eliminates white borders and prevents toner cracking on a variety of digital color documents in a single pass.
“We are thrilled with our DC-615. We feel that it will handle our finishing needs for some time to come,” says owner Gazel Hendricks.
The shop has also added Xerox’ 700i digital color press.
Tom Henry Cards is an eco-friendly, online greeting card store set to launch this September. The slitter/cutter/creaser was sold and installed by Digital Services.
