Komori America announces that Dilley Printing, a full-service commercial print and direct mail business located in Englewood, Colorado, has purchased a five-color, 40-inch, Lithrone G40 advance press equipped with an inline coater and LED-UV curing (GL540+C advance). Dilley Printing is a 40-year-old family-owned business serving the Colorado Front Range Urban Corridor that includes Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Boulder and the surrounding suburbs. Dilley Printing currently has two Komori presses on its floor. With its investment in the GL540+C advance, the company anticipates the speed, automation and intuitive technology of the press will increase its productivity and efficiency dramatically, allowing for the removal of one of the older presses while still increasing production capacity.
“The decision to purchase this new press really was based around throughput efficiency, the fast makeready times and just the sheer volume of work we can produce on the GL540 advance,” said Dan Dilley, president at Dilley Printing. “Our business continues to grow, so adding the new press will allow us to produce more with less labor and less waste, which is now more important than ever with the paper shortage.”
Dilley notes that of the company’s 23 employees, several have been with Dilley Printing for decades and are expert professionals at what they do. Even so, he is cognizant of the fact that the labor market in the printing industry is changing, which also factored into the decision to purchase the GL540+C advance. The ergonomics and intuitive technology increase the ease of labor, making a happier workplace for all.
Helping customers react faster to the market is another goal of Dilley Printing, particularly due to the volume of direct mail the company produces. The GL540+C advance offers a maximum printing speed of 16,500 sheets per hour and handles a wide range of stocks, accepting sheets from 0.04 mm thin to 0.8 mm thick, which is also important to Dilley Printing that prides itself on providing high-quality printed products customized to individual customer needs. Dilley Printing looks forward to the benefits the addition of LED-UV curing will bring, including immediate finishing after the press process and a wider selection of coating styles.
“We purchased our first two Komori presses 20 years ago and, while we looked at other presses before we made this investment decision, we knew we would stay with Komori. They're just solid, trouble-free presses,” said Dilley. “We have a very good relationship with Komori and look forward to the installation of the GL540+C advance and the enhanced efficiency and positive impact it will provide for us internally and, more importantly, for our customers.”
