DISC Is First to Be Certified by Pantone for Workflow in Offset and Extended Gamut Printing
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — August 30, 2016 — DISC, a leading source of specialty packaging solutions for more than 40 years, announced that the company had been recognized by Pantone as the first printer to be certified under both its new Certified Printer Workflow for Offset Printing and Offset Extended Gamut Printing.
“These two certifications are the result of an exhaustive six-month review and testing of our systems and offset printing process,” explains Margaret Krumholz, president of DISC. “We were thrilled to work alongside Pantone on the development and launch of their seven-color extended gamut printing process, and to receive these certifications is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our team to reach these challenging world-class standards.”
DISC is the first company in the world to offer the new Pantone Extended Gamut seven-color printing process. Orange, green, and violet are combined with cyan, magenta, yellow and black to produce nearly 90% of Pantone Spot Colors. According to Don Sinkin, CEO of DISC, “This is an industry standard process, and our customers will feel confident that it has the support of Pantone, the world’s leading color experts. To support the creative process we worked with Pantone to produce their Extended Gamut Guide to take the guesswork out of selecting colors. There is widespread use of extended gamut printing in most digital print devices today, because the cost of running spot colors is prohibitive. Our customers will find using EGC far more cost effective than printing specific PMS colors.”
