Domino to Debut New Inserter Controller

GURNEE, IL—07/15/2009—Domino will use PRINT 09 to debut its new inserter controller tracking system and demonstrate how its latest variable data ink jet printing solutions can enable commercial printers to broaden their service offerings and increase business turnover. Domino’s affordable and scalable in-line digital VDP technologies including drop-on-demand, thermal and continuous ink jet printers, designed to suit a wide range of mailing, addressing and labeling applications, represent a vital proposition for printers seeking to enhance business opportunities in the ongoing global downturn.

Inserter Controller: Foremost amongst Domino’s line-up of technologies is the company’s new Inserter Controller, a versatile and cost-effective central tracking system that will be making its international debut at PRINT 09. Managing personalized data from point of creation through to the envelope, the Controller provides central tracking of each personalized piece through multiple feed points, and ensures that the correct corresponding data is dispatched to the L400 for printing. Operating at speeds above 20,000 pieces/hour, the controller displays production statistics and serves as an interface for the printer and camera. Additionally the controller records information on all items successfully printed as well as those discarded during the print process.

L-Series Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ) Printer: The inserter controller will be shown with Domino’s twin print nozzle L-Series. Integrating with mail bases, envelope inserters and folders, and tailored for use in high volume print runs, the L400’s bulk ink system provides a proven and cost effective solution for commercial printers in the direct mail market. The L400 prints at resolutions up to 600 dpi and runs 30% faster than the market leading system whilst at the same print resolution.

Also on display will be Domino’s K-Series Drop on Demand Printer. Printing cost-effective graphics complementing offset or flexo printed products, the K-Series is ideal for applications requiring part personalization, such as narrow web applications, plastic cards and direct mail, delivering up to 520dpi resolution. (speed dependent). The K150 model to be shown at PRINT 09, will utilize Domino’s UV-curable solvent inks which enable the printing of high-speed, high quality variable data on a wide range of porous and non-porous substrates. Like Domino’s other VDP solutions, the K-Series operates in conjunction with the sophisticated Editor GT ink jet controller system, which offers operators increased control over the print production line. With read and print functionality, the Editor GT guarantees the correct printing of numbered sequences where it is imperative that no labels are missed or duplicated.

A400 Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) Printer: Domino will also exhibit its A-Series printer which, with over 100,000 installations, is the world’s best-selling CIJ solution. The multiple print-head, stackable A400, produces high-resolution graphics in limited space whilst maintaining superior levels of reliability, and quality. With minimal operator intervention the A-Series CP reaches speeds of 1066 feet/minute and prints up to four lines of print simultaneously.

Completing the line-up of Domino VDP technologies will be the company’s fastest, most versatile in-line printing system, the Bitjet+ v4.5. Printing at speeds of up to 15m/second, the Bitjet+ v4.5 binary printer increases product value with the addition of personalization such as addressing, and is unrivalled in its ability to operate uninterrupted.

Domino’s equipment will also be exhibited on a number of OEM booths at PRINT 09. These include Buhrs, Lake Image, Pitney Bowes, Longford, Walco Systems and Fastech.
