FORT MILL, S.C. — August 19, 2016 — Domtar Corp. has announced that it has donated $100,000 to the nonprofit Office Depot Foundation’s National Backpack Program. Domtar’s donation will help provide children across the country with the supplies they need as the new school year begins. 5,000 backpacks will be distributed to nonprofit organizations and schools in the Charlotte area.
“Supporting the Office Depot Foundation is important to Domtar because promoting education and literacy are core priorities for us,” said Rob Melton, VP of paper sales and marketing at Domtar. “Putting paper and writing supplies in the hands of children in need helps set them up for success in school and in life.”
Through its Powerful Pages initiative, Domtar engages with organizations like the Office Depot Foundation, as well as schools across North America, to share the gifts of reading and writing with children and help equip them for learning.
“Domtar is truly a difference maker,” said Office Depot Foundation President Mary Wong. “We are exceptionally grateful that the company has made a substantial donation again this year in support of our National Backpack Program. Domtar's contribution helps us maximize the impact that this program makes on kids across the country. We appreciate Domtar's commitment to children and families.”
