DALLAS—September 17, 2015—For the first time in 20 years, the Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica has a new CEO leading the Association’s efforts in its four-state region of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and western Missouri. Doug Kurkul assumed responsibility as the Association’s chief paid officer on Sept. 1, and now leads one of the industry’s largest regional trade organizations.
“Doug brings a wealth of experience in business and association management and was the top choice of the search committee among dozens of candidates,” said Evan James, PIA MidAmerica’s chairman of the board.
Kurkul has served as a vice president at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) in Washington, District of Columbia, as CEO of chambers of commerce in Reno, Nevada and Round Rock, Texas, and as a presidential management fellow with the Small Business Administration (SBA). He is a passionate advocate for business and a champion of industries working together to support business success and economic vitality.
In his new role, Kurkul will emphasize delivering a strong ROI (return on investment) for association members. “PIA MidAmerica is respected for its innovative programs and superb member service, and I look forward to collaborating with the membership and professional staff to build on that record of achievement,” remarked Kurkul.
Kurkul succeeds long-time Association executive Joe Polanco, who began his industry/association career over 45 years ago, spent 30 years with the Association and 20 of those years as the organization’s highly respected president. He will remain in Texas and per Polanco, "We’re going to kick back and relax for a while and spend some time in California with the family."
