Epson Makes Two Announcements at ISA Expo Enhancing Its SureColor S-Series
LONG BEACH, Calif. — April 20, 2017 — Epson today announced it is now shipping a new series of co-branded inks – Epson-3M UltraChrome GS3 Inks designed for use in Epson’s advanced SureColor S-Series roll-to-roll solvent printers, including the SC-S40600, SC-S60600 and SC-S80600. The premium inks provide signmakers and print service providers (PSPs) a 3M MCS Warranty for finished graphics created using supported 3M films, clears, overlaminates, and application tapes once they have completed the 3M certification process.
“Epson-3M inks enable our customers to create large-format, durable signage and graphics backed by the 3M MCS Warranty,” said Matt McCausland, product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. “The 3M MCS Warranty gives S-Series customers confidence and peace of mind, and we are proud to offer ink backed by the most comprehensive warranty program for finished graphics in the signage industry.”
Epson is now shipping Epson-3M UltraChrome GS3 inks in CMYK, Light Magenta, Light Cyan, and Light Black. Graphic output printed on Avery Dennison films using Epson solvent technology qualifies for the Avery Dennison ICS Performance Guarantee, an up to five-year warranty to provide customers with peace of mind.
“The Epson SureColor S-Series were designed to provide outstanding quality, durability and reliability for print shops of any size; plus, unique solvent ink chemistry allows for same day turnaround, increasing overall shop productivity,” said Matt McCausland, product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. “The Avery Dennison ICS Performance Guarantee offers print service providers another level of assurance in their graphic output.”
The Avery Dennison ICS Performance Guarantee combines Avery Dennison films with qualified components to produce graphic output that promises to provide superior performance. Reflecting joint developmental work between Avery Dennison and Epson America, qualified output with the Epson SureColor S-Series printers and Epson UltraChrome GS3 solvent inks has withstood rigorous scientific testing and met a very stringent set of durability and physical performance specifications to achieve ICS Performance Guarantee status.
“We are happy we were able to successfully work with Epson to provide the ICS Warranty as an option for graphics printed with Epson inks on an Epson printer,” said Paul Roba, OEM Relationship Manager, Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions. “When we work together on our solutions, we better serve our customers and develop products and service offerings with more accurate durability guidelines.”
In addition, Avery Dennison conducted tests with Epson inks that would determine best practices for using overlaminates on printed graphics. The industry standard for solvent printers has been to allow 24 hours for solvent outgassing before laminating printed vinyl film. Avery Dennison found that the necessary outgassing period for the Epson UltraChrome GS3 inks is six hours, a 75 percent reduction in wait time for lamination when properly ventilated.
