Expansion for Worth Higgins
RICHMOND, VA—Worth Higgins & Associates, a leading general commercial printer in the state of Virginia, has broken ground on a 13,500-square foot addition, doubling its manufacturing space, and the company is adding new equipment and preparing for a shift in ownership.
Among the incoming hardware is a new 40˝, six-color Komori sheetfed press, slated to go online next March, as Worth Higgins expands beyond the half-size market niche it has occupied since 1970. Other new arrivals include a CreoScitex platesetter and a TD78 Heidelberg Stahl folder.
Retiring Chairman E. Worth Higgins is selling the company he founded to his employees, crediting them with the success the company has enjoyed.
"We have grown 60 percent in the past five years. In order to continue that rate of growth and sustain our purchase of the company from Worth, we have decided to move into the 40˝ market," points out Rick LaReau, president of Worth Higgins. "We have earned a reputation for providing a quality product and reliable service, and felt that the time was right to offer those things in a larger format to the customers who have been so loyal to us."
Printing Industries of Virginia named Worth Higgins one of the top 10 printers in Virginia for the decade of the 1990s. Master Printers of America and Printing Industries of America also named the company a "Best of the Best" workplace company in 2000.
