Good morning!
After several days of rain and gloom, the sun came out over our new home south of Boston and we were finally able to trim and sweep and rake and patch and paint and replace and all of those other fun activities we been looking forward to while we sat inside. Only one problem …
I’m not 29 years old anymore. I’m 59.
I was dragging after a long day in the sun, to the point where I was literally stumbling around the backyard, unable to lift my feet up high enough to exceed the height of a tree’s root.
That’s when it occurred to me: I bought Gatorade!
Grabbing and quickly downing a bottle, I was soon revitalized. Gatorade is to recovery what spinach is to Popeye. Wouldn’t it be great if there was something that acted as quickly and assuredly for those of us in sales? As you can imagine, I have an idea (if I didn’t, this tip would be about something else).
Exhausting and defeating and frustrating. There are three adjectives that won’t make the “Become a sales rep!” recruiting brochure. But that can be sales. If the brochure was accurate it’d read:
- Do you like rejection? Try sales!
- Do you enjoy hearing, “No!”? Sales might be for you!
- Tired of instant success? Have you considered sales as a career?
The feeling of defeat that comes with the job can leave you unmotivated. Couple that with a feeling of exhaustion from being in the fight and you can find yourself stumbling around in the backyard of your sales territory.
That’s when you need to reach for Sales Gatorade.
I don’t know why this works, but there is something about being organized that brings me back from the dead. Physically organizing my desk, creating a fresh task list, identifying priorities, and hitting the sales “Return to Factory Settings” button that turns it all around for me. I have used this little trick again and again and again and it’s never failed.
Organization has sales electrolytes, Vitamin S, and no sugar. It puts you back on your feet again, ready to leave another endless day of unanswered voicemails.
