Fenske’s Mail Applications Get More Personal with Kodak Prosper 5000XL Press
ROCHESTER, NY—Sept. 8, 2011—As a leader in direct-to-consumer marketing, Fenske Media utilizes its newly installed Kodak Prosper 5000XL inkjet press to create millions of full-color, highly personalized materials for its customers that drive higher rates of return and increased revenues. The high-speed inkjet printing system allows Fenske the flexibility to produce offset-quality output across a range of full-color mail applications on glossy paper, including personalized self-mailers, direct mail and more.
“Relevance equals revenue, and the ability to personalize these self-mailers based on the consumers past purchasing behavior is vital,” said Dave Fenske, partner, Fenske Media. “That’s where our Prosper 5000XL Press excels in more ways than one—millions to be exact. Now we’re able to produce highly targeted, data-driven marketing materials in runs that result in much higher response rates, yielding maximum return on marketing investment.”
Using Kodak’s revolutionary Stream Inkjet Technology, the robust and high-performance Prosper 5000XL Press helps Fenske’s customers differentiate themselves and drive profitability, all while delivering quality, productivity and lower total cost of operations for variable print than offset.
The Prosper 5000XL Press is a full color press that offers 4-over-4 perfecting with a print width of up to 24.5˝ (62.2 cm) at speeds up to 650 feet per minute. Depending on the job requirements, Fenske often runs rolls as narrow as 18 inches. The PROSPER 5000XL Press is the most productive inkjet web press available today, with a duty cycle of 120 million A4 or US letter pages per month.
With its automated Color Management and Image Quality Management System, the PROSPER 5000XL Press is capable of print quality that rivals offset output up to 175 lpi on uncoated, coated, and glossy papers ranging from 45 to 300 grams per square meter or 30 to 200 pound text weight. To reach the required quality levels its customers demand, Fenske uses pre-treated glossy coated substrates on the PROSPER Press.
In the future, Fenske plans to add Kodak Prosper Image Optimization Station, designed to deliver optimal image quality and consistent operation, while allowing the widest possible choice of substrate and maintaining high levels of speed and productivity. This addition will allow Fenske to react more quickly to customer schedules and give the business much more flexibility in their substrate choices.
“Today’s data-driven solutions providers are looking for unique ways to maximize their return on marketing investment through highly personalized, high-speed inkjet printing,” said Phil Faraci, president and chief operating officer, Kodak. “The Prosper 5000XL Press gives pioneering customers like Fenske Media the ability to develop communications that target specific individuals and address their purchasing behavior with custom offers. This makes it easier for Fenske to help its customers grow their businesses.”
Fenske uses its Kodak 700 Print Manager on the front end to drive variable data flow exclusive to the Prosper Press. In fact, Fenske only runs variable print on its Kodak Versamark VL2200 Printing System and Prosper 5000XL Press. Fenske also uses a Kodak Nexpress Digital Production Color Press and Kodak Prinergy Digital Workflow for its computer-to-plate workflow. Fenske has developed its own workflow system for its conventional and digital press capabilities, and uses profiles from the Prinergy Workflow System to match digital and offset output.
