ROCHESTER, N.Y. - July 23, 2018 - The University of Oklahoma’s Printing, Mailing and Document Services Division has become the first printer in the U.S. to install the KODAK NEXFINITY Digital Press. As the largest in-plant and most award-winning university printers in the nation, the installation of the new press expands its digital services by joining the university’s existing KODAK NEXPRESS SX300 Press at its 60,000-sq.-ft. facility.
John Sarantakos, director, Print Services, University of Oklahoma commented: “The quality of the NEXFINITY Press is fantastic! We’re really excited about the possibilities it will open for the university community as it complements the excellent work we are already producing with our existing NEXPRESS Press. One area that we’re really excited about expanding into with the new press is the short-run variable data market.”
The entire NEXFINITY Platform is designed to make it easy for printers to operate in a much more dynamic print marketplace. It’s built with KODAK Dynamic Imaging Technology, a patented Kodak innovation for digital printing. The technology works by applying algorithmic adjustments to specific areas of an image, which optimizes image quality and consistency based on the image content in each area. Its LED writing system provides 256 levels of exposure on the imaging cylinder, yielding excellent, consistent quality. The result, for example, produces crisp text, hard lines, soft skin tones, and beautiful skies on the same page, whether it’s for one print or millions.
