Cutter Meets Need for Digital Finishing
BRIDGEVIEW, IL—Fisher Printing’s new Polar 78 X programmable paper cutter is helping to serve the needs of its growing digital printing business.
The company is using the new unit to cut a variety of products, including post cards, shelf-talker cards, in-store signage and other related items.
A third-generation, family owned business, Fisher Printing operates manufacturing facilities here and in Orange, CA. With more than 300 employees, it is primarily engaged in the production of free-standing inserts (FSIs).
Finishing System Slits, Scores and Folds
FREEDOM, PA—MSP, a full-service direct mail marketing company offering a range of services to business and non-profit clients, has installed a Rollem ETR/Rollaway scoring, slitting, perforating and trimming system.
The 2D finishing and folding system includes an ETR, right-angle Rollaway and plow folder suitable for greeting cards. Two-up digital press sheets are trimmed and separated by a center slit on the ETR, then simultaneously cut, scored and finish-trimmed on the Rollaway, followed by plow folding for finished card products.
SGP Partnership Certification now Includes Finishing

By including this area in the certification program, SGP offers this sector a clear definition of sustainability with the certification criteria and a method to demonstrate it in their operations.

W+D Acquires Operations of Buhrs ITM GmbH
NEUWIED, GERMANY—Winkler + Dünnebier AG (W+D) has acquired the business operations of Buhrs ITM GmbH, a solutions provider of automated envelope insertion equipment.
Going forward, the company will offer the entire existing product range and services under the name “W+D Direct Marketing Solutions GmbH” from its location in Löhne, Germany. W+D plans to complement the company’s current product portfolio with new developments in inserting solutions for direct mail.
With the acquisition, W+D enhances its position as a supplier of envelope, direct mail and direct marketing production systems and solutions.
