Flint Group Launches UltraCURA Bond Adhesive for Cold Foil Technology with Sheetfed Printing
PLYMOUTH, Minn.—October 30, 2015—Flint Group is pleased to introduce UltraCURA Bond, the innovative adhesive solution to maximize the performance and aesthetics of Cold Foil technology for sheetfed printing.
The use of foil to create brilliant, eye catching aesthetics is a hot trend in both packaging and commercial applications. Cold Foil technology has paved the way for printers and converters to apply foil in-line on nearly any substrate at a much lower expense than hot foil applications. UltraCURA Bond meets the customer demands for fast cure and clean, sharp lines and edges of the foil areas. UltraCURA Bond also provides exceptional lithographic performance for ease of use and smooth lay, resulting in the highest brilliance with the foil.
“The commitment to provide innovative solutions to our customers goes beyond inks and coatings,” stated Tyler Newsom, product manager, Sheetfed Packaging North America. “UltraCURA Bond is yet another example of Flint Group’s relentless effort to stay ahead of industry trends that are being adopted by our customers, such as UV Cold Foil.”
The aesthetics achievable in the Cold Foil process have traditionally been limited by the performance of the adhesives available. According to Michael King, president and CEO of Eagle Systems, leading manufacturer of cold foil machines, “UltraCURA Bond is the latest innovation to the cold foil sheetfed market.” King has 40 years experience in foil machinery and the application process, and is widely regarded as the industry expert in Cold Foil technology.
King continued, “What I like the most is the lay down. It was so sharp and crisp. I said to the pressman, ‘if it grabs foil like it prints, we have a winner.’ Well, it did, and with the smooth lay down the shine was quite high.”
Flint Group is excited to bring this UV Cold Foil Adhesive to the Cold Foil sheetfed market in toned, clear and low migration technologies.
