Folex to Display the Fine Art of Coating
COLOGNE, GERMANY—April 10, 2008—Under this main theme, Folex, a foil-coating manufacturer, will be presenting its range of products which has been expanded by quite a few novelties to the fair’s visitors. Folex will be focussing on developments made in the fields of coating plates and underpacking foils. In addition, visitors will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the current status of printable films and papers for the LFP range and for digital printing. A booth area which is approximately 30% bigger as compared to the one used on the last DRUPA will be reflecting the wide variety of new features presented.
Folacoat - solutions for inline coating
A large number of product innovations will attract interest to this manufacturer of strippable coating plates with cutting protection and slipping films. The novelties introduced will include, e.g., raw material presenting a higher resistance to UV coatings in addition to Folacoat Plus, a product proven for univeral application with emulsion and UV coatings for many years. Furthermore, cost-efficient solutions will be presented for order structures involving a small number of print runs, while the current portfolio also allows the provision of consumable material for XXL machines.
Folacoat Flexible – An efficient alternative to rubber blankets for use on job printers with predominant solid area coating will be shown for the first time. This alternative now provides a compressible coating skin which may be underpacked in part. It consists of a pure polymeric compound, and may be used in tower coaters in a way similar to rubber blankets. But, in contrast to printing blankets, users may count on the proven transfer properties of the Folacoat Polymer which is known for its low tendency for ink reception, and which now allows the creation of higher reliefs. The coating skin does not have any fabric layers susceptible to squashing, but presents a comparably high compressibility.
The Folacomp series of products is a perfect supplement to the strippable Folacoat coating plates. Responding to widespread interest, it has been expanded to 14 variants and the acceptance Folacomp enjoys on the market has been increasing constantly in recent times. Folacomp solves the fundamental issues related to roller jumping at the lead edge of printing or to vibrations in the coating unit on fast running machines.
Folabase – The underpacking foils for the printing unit
More than 25 years of experience in polyester-based underpacking foils have led to quite a number of Folex developments. In the first place, current new developments follow the need to achieve higher resistance to the detergents used today, and to reduce the time required for cleaning when replacing self-adherent underpacking foils.
Folabase Soft – These polymeric underpacking foils are softer to the touch, and recreate the quasi-compressibility of calibrated sheets under the rubber blanket. But, in contrast to paper, these foils are comparably insensitive to squashing. Reduced thickness due to excessive compression has become a thing of the past. These foils will last considerably longer than sheets of paper, and ensure optimum dot transfer.
Folex with a strong tradition in manufacturing substrates for the digital print industry shows off its extensive product portfolio used in a variety of different digital technologies all manufactured at our Swiss headquarters.
The large format Ink Jet family continues to grow with a wide range of media in polyester, polypropylene, vinyl & paper for all the major inks including Solvent, Pigment & Dye Ink Jet printers. Materials are available for stoplight roll up/pop ups, banner, screen print separation film, fine art papers & canvas, backlit, overlay, decorative, adhesives and photo paper. On show will be an Ecosolvent and Pigment Ink Jet printer demonstrating the quality of our products.
In the Digital Press arena Folex offers a wide range of speciality films and adhesives under the Folex Digiprint brand name for all the major digital press manufacturers.
