Former Gov. Schwarzenegger Tours Venice High School’s Super Shop 9
VENICE, CA—April 14, 2012—Adding star power to the Super Shop 9 open house this past Saturday, Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger spent more than an hour touring the new $3 million state-of-the-art printing facility at Venice High School, according to the Venice-MarVistaPatch.
Instructor Art Lindauer reportedly secured a $1.5 million state grant in 2006 and then had to lobby the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for five years to get a matching grant. Improvements to the shop and equipment upgrades, including installation of a four-color Heidelberg sheetfed press, where completed last year.
The report noted that Lindauer, for the third year in a row, was among the thousands of California teachers who received layoff notices in March due to ongoing budget woes. It added that LAUSD Board Member Steve Zimmer said most of the layoff notices likely will be rescinded, and if exceptions have to be made to keep Super Shop 9 open, they would be.
“Art (Lindauer) will be here in August,” Zimmer said.
Everyone apparently resisted saying, “I’ll be back!”
