Pierce Buys Back The Dingley Press
LISBON, ME—The Dingley Press announced that it has been re-acquired by former owner, Christopher Pierce. The catalog printer was purchased from The Sheridan Group, a Hunt Valley, Maryland based print, publishing services and technology provider to publishers of scholarly journals, magazines, books and catalogs.
Pierce first became an employee of Dingley’s back in 1972. Rising through the ranks, he was able to purchase the company in 1981. During the next 20-plus years, he grew the business beyond the $100 million sales mark, with more than 500 employees.
In 2004, Pierce sold The Dingley Press to The Sheridan Group. He stayed on with Sheridan, holding various leadership roles at Dingley, including CEO and chairman, until retiring in 2011. At that point, he assumed the deputy commissioner of finance position with Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services. Earlier this year, Pierce approached Sheridan’s leadership and expressed his desire to purchase the business.
“I am very excited to be reunited with the great people at The Dingley Press. The company has a unique niche in the catalog printing business, successfully providing sophisticated printing and mailing distribution services to over 140 nationwide catalog customers,” he said. “I very much look forward to continued growth at Dingley in the years ahead.”
