JEFFERSON CITY, MO—RR Donnelley plans to close the former Von Hoffmann Press facility here by no later than Oct. 1, a number of media outlets reported. The move will leave roughly 500 employees without jobs.
Workers were informed of the decision during a company meeting earlier this week. A spokesperson for RR Donnelley did not immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment.
The Jefferson City facility covers 700,000 square feet. Von Hoffmann was obtained in a 2007 acquisition by the Chicago-based printer. According to the Associated Press, Donnelley invested $6 million in its Owensville, MO, facility in 2011, which is about 40 miles east of Jefferson City.
