Loan Enables Press Purchase for OH Firm
FREEPORT, OH—Backed by a $2.2 million loan from the state of Ohio and other financial institutions, Freeport Press has placed an order for a Komori System 38S web offset press, according to the Times Reporter. The heatset press will enable Freeport to add, over the next seven years, as many as 40 new positions to its roster of 150 employees. It joins an existing System 38S that was installed in May of 2009, and will be set up to run in tandem.
Freeport to take delivery of the press in December and have it in operation around March or April of 2011. "Our intent is to double our volume over the next five years, which will provide a number of opportunities," President David Pilcher told the Times Reporter.
The 130-year-old company recently installed a 24-unit Kolbus perfect binder. It produces publications, catalogs and direct mail for eastern U.S. clients.
