From MIS to Postpress, Heidelberg Solutions Help Customers Grow Their Businesses
KENNESAW, GA—Dec. 2, 2011—Heidelberg has announced the following new product installations at Worzalla Publishing, Ry-Gan Printing and Northern Ohio Printing.
Worzalla Publishing Equips Digital Book Printing Business with Eurobind 600 PUR and POLAR Cutter
Worzalla Publishing reports the purchase of a Eurobind 600 PUR binder and POLAR 66 guillotine cutter to support its new digital book printing operation, co-located with the company’s main facility in Stevens Point, WI.
“We are responding to customer demand for ultra-short-run books in quantities as low as 10-20 copies,” said Vice President of Operations Kris Koch. “We chose the Eurobind’s PUR glue option to address any stock or toner-based issues associated with digitally printed output.” Likewise, the programmable, easy-to-operate POLAR is specially designed for the needs of the digital printing businesses.
Founded in 1892, Worzalla Publishing today is a state-of-the-art, full-service, book-manufacturing company. Its 300,000-squre-foot plant in Stevens Point is dedicated to the printing and binding of hard- and softcover books. The 100 percent employee-owned company has a staff of 280.
Ry-Gan Printing Chooses New USA B20 Stahlfolder for Reliability, Ready Access to Service
Ry-Gan Printing in Rochester, NY, recently added a new USA B20 2-station, pile-fed Stahlfolder from Heidelberg. The new folder, which replaces an aging Stahl, is notable for its more compact size and improved ease-of-use, said company president Craig Schinsing.
“We bought another Stahlfolder for its reliability, as well as for the assurance that if a problem arises, Heidelberg service will be able to help resolve it,” he said.
Ry-Gan has been a general commercial printer to the trade for more than a quarter of a century. In addition to the new folder, the company relies on an all-Heidelberg pressroom lineup of Speedmaster SM 52 and SM 74 presses; Prinect CtP prepress workflow driving a Suprasetter A75 thermal platesetter; and a full-service bindery equipped with POLAR guillotine cutters. The company, which employs a staff of 10, currently is evaluating the purchase of an additional new Heidelberg press.
Northern Ohio Printing Installs Prinect Business Manager MIS
Northern Ohio Printing, Cleveland, has installed Heidelberg’s new Prinect Business Manager MIS solution. Company president Gary Chmielewski expects the new system to help his business run even more efficiently.
“It helps us zero-in on costs and profits, ties in easily with our accounting system, and provides fast, flexible estimates. It also helps with scheduling,” he said, adding that the new software’s functionality supports both the company’s Heidelberg offset and its digital presses.
A longtime Heidelberg customer, Northern Ohio boasts an offset pressroom lineup consisting of a 29” Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 perfector, and two Printmaster QM 46-2 small-format machines. The company’s full-service bindery hosts 36” and 45”programmable POLAR cutters, and a 29” KAMA die-cutter with foil stamping and embossing. Additional capabilities include digital cut-sheet printing, digital wide-format, and Web-to-Print services. The company employs a staff of 30.
