FUJIFILM Digital Inkjet J Press 720 Takes GRAPH EXPO 2010 by Storm
VALHALLA, NY—10/20/2010—FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced that its Graphic Systems Division successfully introduced its latest innovation in digital inkjet technology – the FUJIFILM Digital Inkjet J Press 720 at GRAPH EXPO 2010, marking the first time the sheetfed press was operated live on North American soil. Purposefully designed to target the traditional commercial printer to help them aggressively compete in the short-run printing market, the J Press 720 is symbolic of the convergence of the offset and digital printing platforms, combining inkjet functionality with offset quality.
“With two units sold at the show, the market’s acceptance of the J Press 720 at GRAPH EXPO 2010 is proof that this is the right technology at the right time,” said Stephen Sanker, director, Inkjet Presses, Graphic Systems Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “The investment Fujifilm put towards the strategic development of this forward thinking technology, particularly its ability to print on standard offset stocks and sizes, will be responsible for changing the graphic communications landscape and we couldn’t have asked for a better response during the show.”
Under the banner, “The Future of Digital Printing is Here,” standing room only demonstrations of the J Press 720 took place each day throughout GRAPH EXPO 2010 at Fujifilm’s booth. The most favorable feedback was in response to the J Press 720’s exclusive acceptance of standard 20”x29” offset sheets, as well as the device’s ability to seamlessly integrate into an existing workflow. The removal of makeready times and waste as well as savings on consumables and remarkable speed were also cited as reasons for the successful launch of the J Press 720, in addition to the device’s impressive 1,200 x 1,200dpi resolution with four-level gray scale.
The revolutionary development of the J Press 720 underscores the benefits of Fujifilm’s strategic alliances and acquisitions for Fujifilm’s print partners, and brings together the knowledge, expertise and R&D efforts of multiple businesses within the Fujifilm organization. During a press conference that took place on the second day of the show, Masahiro “Sam” Ota, division president of the Graphic Systems Division for FUJIFILM North America Corporation, said, “We hope that the introduction of this technology is reflective of what Fujifilm is doing to continue supporting our partners in the graphic communications space. Fujifilm sees the J Press 720 as a major stepping stone in dramatically changing the print industry. We have all the tools to take our print partners into the future.”
“One thing that hasn’t changed is Fujifilm’s commitment to provide the graphic communications industry with the tools printers need to increase their profitability as they navigate this rapidly changing industry,” continued Sanker. ”The J Press 720 solidifies Fujifilm’s position in the marketplace. We are at the forefront of digital inkjet technology, and the purchase of these devices confirms that Fujifilm is meeting a need in the market and taking our print partners into the future.”
The J Press 720 also clinched a Must See ‘em nod at GRAPH EXPO 2010 in the Digital Presses – Production Color – Sheetfed category.
