Gold Ink Awards Entry: The Casa Tres Soles Dimensional Promotion Kit

PHILADELPHIA—June 25, 2015—This 2015 Gold Ink Awards entry, titled "Casa Tres Soles," was entered into the Dimensional Printing category by Las Vegas-based Creel Printing. The multi-component promotional kit, created for potential guests to visit Casa Tres Soles in Punta Mita, Mexico, contains a gift box, a brochure, an envelope, rate sheets and a custom USB drive. The brochure highlights beautiful images of architecture, gardens and the azure waters of the Pacific Ocean that can be seen from the oceanfront villa.

The dimensional kit was printed on a six-color, 40" Komori Lithrone press, for a run length of 2,000 pieces. The paper used to produce the brochure was TopKote 130-lb.Gloss Cover. For the top and bottom of the gift box, an 80-lb. Oatmeal Cotton Linen material was used, and for the lid and tray of the gift box, 80-lb. Gold Linen Rainbow Text was used. The envelope component was printed on 100-lb. Translucent paper.

The rate sheets inserted in a folder in the brochure were printed with a digital press on 70-lb. Generic Opaque Digital. To create the special effects, Copper Foil Stamp was used on the gift box lid, along with Soft Touch aqueous and gloss UV. The piece was diecut, scored, folded and saddle stitched.

According to Chris Evans, vice president of premedia and customer solutions, the project required hand inserting and assembly of the gift box for the foam insert, custom USB drive and envelope seal. "Our creative and manufacturing goal was to design, print and assemble a finished piece that was as beautiful as the vacation property it represents," said Evans.
