PHILADELPHIA — May 26, 2016 — The beautiful Hawaiian landscapes found in this 2016 Gold Ink Awards entry seem like the perfect way to usher in the summer months ahead. This entry was submitted and entered into the Brochures, Sheetfed, category by Acme Press d/b/a Calitho, a full-service commercial printing and packaging company located in Concord, Calif.
Titled "Hokuala" (which means rising star in Hawaiian), the promotional piece was created for a new development in Kaua'i (the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands), for the exclusive members of Timbers Resort Properties. What makes this Gold Ink Awards entry stand out are the pristine images of the Pacific Ocean, lush green foliage, mountains and shorelines that are weaved together in a compact brochure that uses vibrant colors and textured paper.
A press run of 4,300 sheets was produced on a six-color, 40˝ Komori Lithrone (GL640C) press equipped with a coater and Komori's H-UV system. The job was printed 16-up, running sheetwise. The paper selected for this project was 100-lb. Esse Texture cover white from Neenah Paper. Multiple colors were also used that included four-color process and a low-curl aqueous coating on both sides — the aqueous coating was laid under the four-color process.
The brochure was then scored, trimmed, collated, side sewn (Pebble Beach Thread), inserted into a clear bag and mailed (two-way match).
