Gold Ink Awards Entry: Prestone Press Capabilities Kit Uses Spot UV Effects
PHILADELPHIA — March 18, 2016 — This 2016 Gold Ink Awards entry was entered into the Media Kits category by Long Island City, New York-based Prestone Press. The self-promotional kit contains seven components — a folder with six brochures that promotes the company's traditional, digital and wide-format printing offerings; digital asset management and storefronts; and finishing techniques such as digital spot UV special effects. What makes this entry stand out are the vibrant colors, cool spot UV effects and foil stamping.
Prestone's equipment and capabilities kit was produced on a six-color Komori Lithrone sheetfed offset press. Foil stamping was applied using Great Western Foil # MK148 Orange. An MGI JETvarnish 3D digital spot UV coater was also employed to create special effects — Prestone Press was the first printer in the New York area to install this unit. The paper used was 130-lb. McCoy silk cover from Sappi Fine Paper, printed four-color process plus PMS 021 (match orange). Velcro enclosures were applied by hand.
Prestone Press, which ranked 145th on the 2015 Printing Impressions 400 with sales of $33.94 million, offers a full array of printing services for luxury brand, designer-quality clients, and operates out of a 53,000-square-foot facility.
"Our goal was to provide an example of the many in-house services and effects that we can provide without having to outsource, and also to convey the attention to detail and consistency that we pride ourselves on," says Rob Adler, president of Prestone Press.
