Gold Ink Awards Entry: Sample Book Captures HP Indigo Digital Print Quality
PHILADELPHIA — June 10, 2016 — This 2016 Gold Ink Awards entry was submitted and entered into the Specialty Digital Printing category by GLS/NEXT Precision Marketing, a commercial printer based in Brooklyn Park, Minn. The "We Stand by Ink Sample Book" was part of a three-part inspirational marketing campaign for HP Indigo. What really makes this sample book stand out is the wide range of substrates and HP ElectroInks incorporated, along with the cool raised and digital embossing effects.
A press run of 1,500 sets was produced on a 13x19" HP Indigo 7800 digital press. Various paper stocks from GPA, Mohawk Fine Papers, Sappi Fine Paper, Felix Schoeller, Hazen Paper, Mitsubishi Imaging, Neenah Paper, Iggesund Paperboard and Verso were used.
The sample book was also Wire-O bound. HP’s One-Shot color technology was used to create the special effects (raised and digital embossing). It also featured Opaque White and spot PMS Red. One aspect of the project that was particularly challenging to produce, according to GLS, was making sure that the trapping for the white ink was accurate.
The campaign takes a strong point of view that unlike digital presses that use toner-based particles, HP Indigo ElectroInk technology represents the evolution of offset to drive a profitable new future for commercial printing.
"Embracing the timeless power of ink, a host of innovative substrates, and unique effects and applications, the HP Indigo sample book demonstrates seamless quality with offset, and the game-changing capabilities of HP Indigo's seven-color digital printing technology," says Jim Benedict, marketing director at GLS/NEXT Precision Marketing.
