BOLINGBROOK, IL—June 27th, 2008—Successful demonstration of innovative technology, orders signed and prospective projects initiated have led Goss International to label the drupa 2008 show a success.
“We feel that we captured the spirit of drupa by introducing new technologies and presenting our customers with an excellent show environment for pursuing new ideas and opportunities,” according to Goss International CEO Bob Brown. “The performance of our new M-600 Folia press was clearly an impressive highlight of the show, and the interest among sheetfed and web printers throughout the world was very encouraging.”
Goss International announced new orders at the show for products throughout its portfolio, including Community SSC, Magnum, M-600, M-500, Sunday and Uniliner presses and Pacesetter saddlestitchers. Italian printer Mazzucchelli also held a news conference at the show to announce plans to follow the installation of the world’s first 96-page web press in early 2009 with the installation of a second, identical Sunday 5000 press.
Brown emphasized that Goss International invested in running a live web press at the show, completing more than 50 successful demonstrations. “That sends a strong message about our commitment to the success of our customers and the competitiveness of web offset,” he added.
Close to 500 drupa visitors per day attended demonstrations of the M-600 Folia press, a new web offset alternative to sheetfed perfectors. The press printed on coated stocks without a dryer at 30,000 sheets per hour, utilizing new sheeter technology developed in partnership with VITS.
Crowds were also large at the Ferag booth where Goss finishing technology was demonstrated as part of the new Pacesetter + Ferag saddlestitching solution for the European market. Goss International also presented new features for its FPS, Magnum and Uniliner/Universal press models and emphasized its leadership role in automated offset production. The first Goss press installations using Automatic Transfer and Autoplate technology and supporting workflow systems to achieve non-stop production with on-the-fly, four-color job changes were highlighted.
