Goss International to Rationalize Operations in France
BOLINGBOOK, IL—March 20, 2009—As part of continuous efforts to gain efficiency and deliver more value to customers through its worldwide manufacturing platform, Goss International is pursuing an initiative to rationalize the capacity of its two operations in France.
The Goss International entities in France will present a proposal to works councils at facilities in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) and Montataire (Oise). Under the plan, assembly of Goss Uniliner and Universal presses would be transferred from Nantes to Montataire, where Goss M-600, Sunday 4000 and Sunday 5000 presses are currently manufactured.
Goss International remains committed to its full product portfolio and to serving customers through its global manufacturing and support network.
The restructuring plan under consideration for France is part of proactive steps Goss International has taken to adjust capacity in response to current economic and market conditions. The most recent measures have included workforce reductions at sites in The Netherlands and the United States in late 2008 and early 2009 and temporary furloughs or “short-time” work schedules at several sites. An upcoming restructuring plan intended to further reduce staff levels at a facility in Preston, UK has also been confirmed.
Goss International delivers web offset presses, finishing systems and aftermarket Lifetime Support services for newspaper, magazine, catalog, direct mail and other printing applications.
