WASHINGTON, DC—August 22, 2012—The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) has signed an agreement with Apple Inc. to sell Federal eBooks. Titles are available in eBook format for the iPad, eReaders, PCs, and Macs when running the iTunes Store app.
GPO works with Federal agencies to produce their publications, books, and reports in print and digital formats, including eBook formats. Current eBook titles available include: “Ponzimonium: How Scam Artists are Ripping Off America,” “On Course to Desert Storm,“ and the “Appendix, Budget of the United States FY 2013.”
GPO will continue to work with Apple to add new titles to the iTunes Store. GPO also makes eBooks available in partnership with Google’s eBookstore, Barnes & Noble, OverDrive, Ingram, Zinio, and other online vendors.
“GPO is establishing itself as a source for government publications in an eBook format through our relationships with multiple vendors,” said Acting Public Printer Davita Vance-Cooks. “I am pleased that GPO provides the public with access to many popular Federal eBook titles. This is another example of the many formats the agency offers the public to access Federal Government information.”
