GPA Gives Back to the Community for the Holidays Through Various Organizations
MCCOOK, Ill.—December 24, 2015—The GPA team got into the holiday spirit this season by giving back to the community through a variety of charitable organizations. This year, the team continued its tradition of participating in the Toys for Tots program, gave through the Adopt-A-Family Christmas program and donated to an employee’s motorcycle club charity ride to help brighten the holidays for families and children in need.
GPA's employees from the Western regional headquarters participated in the Adopt-A-Family Program, which this year provided 430 struggling families in the Los Angeles area with gifts for the whole family. GPA’s employees "adopted" two families for the holidays and banded together to collect everything from household items to gifts to help spread cheer for the holidays and the months to come.
Employees at GPA's corporate headquarters hosted a toy collection for two programs this year: Toys for Tots and the Orange Crush Motorcycle Club's toy drive for the children of their local park district, which GPA's Nick Soto helped coordinate. The toy drive was a big success, yielding many new gifts for local and less fortunate children. The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas, and GPA was glad to help such a worthy cause.
Gina Wilczewski, GPA's human resources coordinator, shared her thoughts on donating. "To me, Christmas is all about the children," she remarked. "I love participating in GPA’s toy drive because nothing fills my heart more than the look on their faces and how their eyes light up when they receive a special holiday gift."
