Grafix Presents Smart Systems for Printers, Customers at GRAPH EXPO
BOLINGBROOK, IL—September 19, 2012—Grafix USA, a leading technology partner of print shops and press manufacturers, has a vision for the future, and that vision is centered on smart systems for superior quality, high efficiency and cost-effective operation in the sheetfed printing arena. At GRAPH EXPO 2012, Grafix will sharpen this focus on a mix of pioneering new innovations and customer-proven solutions that represent a high-water mark in its portfolio of drying and powder spraying devices.
U.S. Debut for PowderMax
GRAPH EXPO 2012 will mark the U.S. launch of the Grafix PowderMax series powder spraying unit, unveiled at drupa 2012 last May. Grafix pioneered the science of powder spraying in sheetfed printing. PowderMax establishes a new standard in powder metering technology, introducing a fresh approach to handling, adjustability and cleanliness. It can be easily retrofitted on any press equipped with existing Grafix powder spraying systems.
The plate-dosing system features reliable dosing control for all printing powder types and powder applications. The set point used to dispense the required amount of powder ensures simple, precise powder dosing. The automatic format adjustment and speed compensation make PowderMax the first choice for the fastest presses on the market.
The HEP (high-efficiency powder) nozzle tube delivers powder exactly where it is needed. Less powder accumulating on the press translates into longer intervals between cleanings. The Clean Filling System boasts a turn-tilt mechanism and no-spill bottle holder. To refill or change powder, operators merely screw in and click up the powder bottle. Dust exposure is lower, and occasional nozzle cleanings are quicker.
Energy-saving EccoCure UV
Another highlight of Grafix’s GRAPH EXPO exhibit will be the EccoCure UV-curing system. EccoCure UV is not only notable for the stunning glossy effects and excellent rub resistance it produces, like conventional UV printing, but also for the benefits of instant curing utilizing environmentally friendlier LED inks.
Located in the delivery of the press, EccoCure UV provides ozone-free curing with reduced heat and eliminates the need for the standard three-lamp, end-of-press drying system. A single metal halide-doped UV lamp rated at 300 watts per inch accommodates most process-color print jobs, including jobs printed with thick inks, running at normal press speeds. Plus the faster curing cycle gets jobs off press in record time. Placing complementary infrared hot-air modules in the delivery offers added flexibility to alternate between LED and conventional inks and coatings.
Desirable curing the Hi-Cure way
Grafix’s popular Hi-Cure UV-curing system cuts energy usage by approximately one-third while improving efficiency and product quality. The Electronic Power Supply (EPS) variable frequency drive system enables standby power to be stepped down to 25 percent of the lamp power. The extremely fast on-off switching cycles—with a short UV lamp restart time of 20 seconds to a maximum of two minutes under full load—minimizes downtime during cleaning cycles.
Of course, high-rub resistance, exceptional gloss and ease of printing on uncoated paper and plastics are hallmarks of Hi-Cure. Greater product variety allows printers to create more value-added packaging and cartons for their customers.
Visitors can learn the many benefits of Grafix technology in booth 1661 at GRAPH EXPO 2012, October 7-10 at McCormick Place South in Chicago.
