OCEAN, NJ—Feb. 17, 2012—Graphic Art Systems, a leading developer and manufacturer of foil enhancement equipment for the printing industry for over 20 years, is proudly supporting the Print UV 2012 Conference as a platinum sponsor. In addition, its president, Michael King, will be a speaker discussing the fast-growing cold foil process. The popular conference, now in its fifth year, is expected to bring high-level industry peers to the Wynn Encore Resort in Las Vegas from March 11-13, 2012.
King is scheduled to speak on Monday, March 12, during a 20-minute afternoon seminar entitled “Cold Foil and UV: A Perfect Combination.” The session covers the state of cold foil technology, and how and where to get started in this popular process.
Cold foiling is an alternative to foil lined board otherwise known as foil board that is laminated to paperboard or paper. It is performed in one step along with the printing process and provides cold foil quality.
Foil-lined board or foil board is not environmentally-friendly, asserts King, who will address this topic in his speech. He will also address the truths and myths related to the cold foil process such as the misconception that the cold foil process is expensive. King will be using his 35 years of experience in the industry to explain the intricate details of using cold foil and UV and better educating attendees about the innovations in this technology.
“UV and cold foil are increasingly going hand-in-hand, and the results are simply astounding,” says King. “Once customers are exposed to UV on foil, they want more. Our current customers tell us that cold foiling is a profitable additional service that sets them apart from the competition and provides them with an attractive new process in terms of cost and graphic possibilities.”
The two-and-a-half day Print UV 2012 conference will focus on core UV processes with experts from around North America and the world who are taking the lead in the use of UV inks, UV coatings, UV substrates and UV best practices. This year’s event is bringing back the most in-demand UV printing topics presented over the past four years.
Content has been updated and expanded to include the best ideas shared in the past. UV industry experts will provide in-depth instruction and discussions that are critical to success in UV printing. The conference also offers opportunities to network with industry leaders to enhance UV printing capabilities, discuss legislative issues, and learn about the latest technologies.
“We are proud to support this popular conference for the first time this year,” says King. “For the past five years, this particular conference has set itself apart from others by offering its attendees a wealth of information on how to differentiate themselves from competitors by utilizing UV in their printed material. We, too, believe that our hot and cold foil process sets printers apart by offering a unique and cost-effective method.”

Michael B. King, president of Graphic Art Systems, has been the producer of the Eagle brand of retrofit hot stamping and cold foil enhancement systems for over 20 years. The Eagle brand of foil equipment has over 350 installations in more than 15 countries. Graphic Art Systems is headquartered in Ocean, NJ where all R&D, manufacturing and production of its Eagle systems is performed. The Eagle system products offered today are for both the hot and cold foil markets.
Known as “The Foil Experts,” the company has been the leader in the design and manufacturing of retrofit hot foil stamping equipment for over 20 years. Its Eagle Systems equipment has dominated the hot foil market with hundreds of installations worldwide. Recently Michael King, owner of Graphic Art Systems, applied his decades of specialization in foil enhancement equipment to the development of the Eco-Eagle Cold Foil System for sheetfed offset presses. The Eco-Eagle is the most technologically-advanced, versatile and cost efficient cold foil system in the world and we already hold the most cold foil machines worldwide.
The environmentally-friendly Eco-Eagle uses less power than a hairdryer to operate and was designed to eliminate foil dust caused by machines using the old dancer roller system. It has the ability to run unlimited multiple narrow webs of the same size or different sizes, or one large web depending on the job. The Eco-Eagle is operator-friendly, requires no mechanical, electrical or computer adjustments and can be retrofit to new or existing 28˝ up to 80˝ sheetfed offset presses from major press manufacturers. Installations typically are achieved between two to three days and production is running by the fourth day.
