GOA Preps for 35th Anniversary Show
MIAMI—Print's role as part of an integrated communications package will be among the hot-button topics when Graphics of the Americas 2010 (GOA) kicks off its 35th anniversary conference and expo. The event, which takes place Feb. 25-27 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, targets the printing and publishing industries in North and South America and the Caribbean. Last year's expo and conference attracted 9,500 attendees from 70 countries. More than 1,200 attendees participated in the diverse educational sessions.
Many of the industry's leading speakers, including experts from Clemson University, Ryerson, NAPL, Printing Industries of America and MFSA, will lead sessions that address important subject matter for graphic arts professionals today, including cost-effective tips and strategies for navigating the current economy. Presentations are also being produced by Xerox, X-Rite, Heidelberg, Canon and CorelDRAW, among others.
"This year's show features an educational program not to be missed. We're also privileged to have Microsoft's August de los Reyes, principal director of user experience, Microsoft Surface, accept our invitation to present a visionary keynote," notes George Ryan, president of GOA.
The annual event has become known for catering to its significantly high number of Spanish-speaking attendees, and does so again with 12 sessions being presented in Spanish this year.
The crē8 Conference co-locates with GOA 2010 to educate attendees about efficiently moving designs and content between print, Web and interactive mediums, with more than 40 available sessions led by creative technology experts.
The Brand Protection Conference provides insight about the latest innovations to protect brand image and product integrity from the global counterfeiting threat. A session of special interest, called "The Wine Label Counterfeit/Anti-Counterfeit Project," features a video presentation about the production of a counterfeit wine label from start to finish. The counterfeit labels will be on display, alongside genuine labels, for evaluation.
