GALA Recipients Shine at GOA
MIAMI BEACH, FL—With heavy snowfall pounding the Northeast, South Beach was definitely the place to be for the 35th annual Graphics of the Americas (GOA) trade show held here Feb. 25-27. The event also marked the Graphic Arts Leaders of the Americas (GALA) awards banquet hosted by the Printing Association of Florida.
This year's GALA recipients included John Berthelsen, president and CEO of Suttle-Straus, Waunakee, WI, representing North America; Carlos Aguierre, director and GM of Quebecor World Chile S.A., representing Latin America; and Gerardo Zamora Reynoso, director general of Grupo CAZ in Mexico, who received Young Entrepreneur recognition. Berthelsen was also recognized by Printing Impressions with a special Industry Advocacy Award for his unwavering support of graphic arts education and industry recruitment.
In a departure from tradition, GOA will be moving to Orlando, FL, for the first time ever in 2011. The expo and conference will be held Feb. 24-26 at the Orange County Convention Center. "We expect that this new Orlando venue will attract an even greater number of attendees from the U.S., along with traditional strong attendance from Latin American countries," predicts George Ryan, president of GOA.
