Hall of Famers to Be Honored
The Printing Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame opens its doors to four new members during the annual Gold Ink Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet during Graph Expo and Converting Expo Monday evening, Oct. 11.
Joining the hallowed ranks of the men and women who have provided an immeasurable impact on their own companies, as well as the industry at large, are: Charles "Tuck" Krehbiel, CEO of CJK (The C.J. Krehbiel Co.) in Cincinnati; John O. Bell, president and CEO of The Ovid Bell Press in Fulton, MO; George W. Stephenson, founder, president and CEO of Stephenson Printing in Alexandria, VA; and Peter McLean, COO of Continental Web Press, based in Itasca, IL.
* Krehbiel represents the fourth generation of his family to lead the 132-year-old company. He joined the firm in 1973 and has held positions including customer service, plant manager, vice president and COO.
* Bell began working at the age of 12 for the family business, which was founded by his grandfather in 1902. He joined the company full-time in 1973 and became president in 1989.
* Stephenson broke into the printing industry as a pressman in 1951 and later partnered a small lithograph operation in Georgetown, MD. In 1959, Stephenson struck out on his own and developed the company into a high-end sheetfed and full-web printing establishment.
* McLean spent 30 years with 3M Co. in five different positions, all related to the graphic arts industry. He helped facilitate the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) for publishers, major printers and prepress companies throughout the country, and is a well-known industry speaker on the subject.
Four print production executives will also be feted at the gala by PrintMedia, Printing Impressions' sister publication. They are Tracy Windrum, vice president of manufacturing at Gruner+Jahr USA; Martha Rhodes, senior vice president, director of process and production management, Wunderman;
Elizabeth Doble, vice president, production and manufacturing, professional and trade division, John Wiley & Sons; and Andy Mickus, senior vice president, publishing services, Access Intelligence.
