KENNESAW, GA—August 9, 2007—Heidelberg will demonstrate its leadership and innovation in prepress and workflow technology at this year’s Graph Expo by displaying the latest Prinect CtP and Consumables solutions at booth #1200 at McCormick Place in Chicago from September 9 -12.
“To stay competitive in today’s market, printers must find new ways to control costs and increase efficiencies across the shop – a process that begins in prepress. Our prepress and workflow technologies, all designed with JDF integration, provide greater job transparency, efficiency and workflow automation to help printers stay ahead of the curve,” said Ray Cassino, director, Product Management, Prinect & CtP, Heidelberg USA.
At the tradeshow, visitors will be able to see exactly how Prinect solutions work together with a centralized JDF-system architecture. For example, Prinect Printready simplifies all prepress tasks, increases efficiency from start to finish and allows the whole workflow to be monitored centrally. It can be combined with the Prinect Pressroom Manager, the world’s first JDF-based prepress to pressroom system capable of controlling and managing all data required for print production. The Prinect Integration System allows all production processes in job management, prepress, press and postpress to be fully integrated into one workflow management system. And the Management Information System (MIS) Prinect Prinance boosts the efficiency and effectiveness of costing, production preparations and planning, job handling, and decision-making at the management level. With this JDF integration, printers not only have total connectivity, but they also gain seamless integration with their existing products.
Heidelberg also will demonstrate their Quality Measurement Systems, such as Axis Control, Image Control and Inpress Control, among others. Prinect Axis Control is the basis color measuring system that allows printers to impact quality controls directly on the Speedmaster’s control center. Prinect Image Control is the world’s only color measuring system for monitoring quality outside the press using spectrophotometry. And Inpress Control is the industry’s first inline device for sheetfed presses that uses spectrophotometry that measures color and controls registration on the fly at speeds of up to 18,000 sheets per hour.
Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow solutions are winning accolades from leading print media industry organizations. Recently, MetaDimension RIP and Signa Station were recognized by the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) and the International Prepress Association (IPA). Both products were certified JDF-compliant and IPA recognized the MetaDimension RIP for delivering a highly accurate proof to press sheet match, passing all 15 criteria in its Color Assurance Evaluation.
Also at Graph Expo, Heidelberg will showcase several of its CtP platesetters, including the Prosetter P 74, Suprasetter S 105 SCL and the entry level Suprasetter A 52 ATL, which was first introduced at last year’s Graph Expo show. The Prosetter and Suprasetter families offer the widest choice of options for punching, speed and automation. Heidelberg’s modular range of platesetters offers various configuration options and levels of automation to satisfy the demands of small, medium, and large formats.
To offer customers the broadest set of options for their CtP needs, Heidelberg is expanding its line of thermal plate offerings. Heidelberg offers both Violet and Thermal CTP plate technologies ensuring customers have the right plate to meet their needs. The new Saphira Thermoplate PN and Saphira Thermoplate PA are the latest two plate solutions added to the existing Saphira Chemfree and Saphira Thermoplate NA plates for the Suprasetter product line.
Also at the show, Heidelberg is demonstrating a new contract proofing paper on the HP Z2100 and Epson 7880 printers, called Saphira Proofing Paper Premium Semi Matte EZ. Extremely large color gamut and instant drying are just two of the contributing features for this next generation nano porous technology providing world class color accuracy in contract proofing. When used with Heidelberg’s color management software, an average delta E value of less than one can be achieved.
