Rose Press Flexes Some Small-format Muscle with Second QM 46-2 from Heidelberg
According to the president and owner of Rose Press, Inc., Mt. Vernon, N.Y., the keys to business success are good management and reliable equipment. “One makes the other better,” says Pat Mondesando. “We provide the first and Heidelberg provides the second.” The 6.5-million-dollars general commercial printer, a Heidelberg customer since it was established in 1987, recently installed a second Printmaster QM 46-2 to augment its small-format capability as the business grows. As a result of the addition, Mondesando says, his company’s standard of quality for small-format work has been “greatly magnified.” With the new press in place, he adds, “We can balance our workflow more easily.” Rose Press operates a fleet of Heidelberg presses, including a five-color GTO, a two-color Speedmaster 74, a six-color Speedmaster 74 DI and others. The company runs both of its QM 46-2 presses “aggressively” during a single extended shift and relies on word-of-mouth to promote its capabilities. “Our reputation drives it,” Mondesando says, “and part of that reputation is our Heidelberg equipment.” Elsewhere in the plant, the company operates a pair of POLAR cutters and four Stahlfolders. It also uses Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 DI plates and Heidelberg blankets for all of its presses. With 30 employees, Rose Press serves the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area.
