Heidelberg USA Announces New Product Installation Report

Stahlfolder TH 82 Folder from Heidelberg “Paying for Itself” at Hatcher Press
Hatcher Press, located in San Carlos, Calif., recently installed a Stahlfolder TH 82 folder from Heidelberg to keep pace with its all-Heidelberg pressroom, which includes two Speedmaster SM 102 presses and three Speedmaster CD 102 presses. The company purchased the folder with an automated stacker, which maximizes capacity and improves efficiency by minimizing the time constraints of manual loading. Since the installation, the new Stahlfolder TH 82 has enabled Hatcher Press to redistribute folding employees to other areas of the shop. Brice Tarling, president, reports that the new folder has reduced run times by approximately 30 to 35 percent, noting that the Stahlfolder TH 82 is “paying for itself.” In addition, the shop has reduced outsourcing by keeping more complex folding jobs in-house. “This folder is one of the best bindery acquisitions we’ve made in a long time,” says Tarling. Hatcher Press recently added digital capabilities to its roster of services, a milestone that was celebrated with the purchase of a 31-inch POLAR cutter. Founded in 1963, Hatcher Press is a family-owned and operated trade printer. The company’s 63 employees serve primarily local clients, which include other print shops, publishers, graphic designers, advertising agencies and print brokers.
